The classes at the Embroiderer's Guild Victoria in Malvern were wonderful to me as a tutor.
Great venue...keen embroiderers and only one troublemaker who knows who she is!...it was wonderful to feel so at home and so welcome.
I would encourage anyone to contact the Guild to perhaps see some of their collection or to join any of the great groups that they host.

He's been to the Musee D'Orsay looking at a pre raphaelite exhibition..I'm not there and I'll say no more....pearls and swine come to mind!!
Got back safely from Newcastle...lovely visit and a great lot of keen stitchers happy to take part and learn some new techniques etc.Thank you to Quilter's Hive in Georgetown for sponsoring the visit.
My next confirmed teaching trip will be to melbourne for Embroiderer's Guild in Malvern in Early June...
then Rochester..at The Quilting Patch and then the Drapers of Mt macedon in Gisborne ...

Many cups of Coffee and stops along the way via The Cobb highway which traces Long Paddock from Echuca on the Murray to Moama to Mathoura Deniliquin, Pretty Pine,Wanganella (of Peppin ram fame) and Boorooban,and on to Hay on the Murrumbidgee..I wanted to keep on going to to Booligal, Ivanhoe and Wilcannia just to cross the Lachlan and the Darling but there may have been repercussions...Here we are stitching in Hay...we made some beautiful Daisy Cotton Felt flowers too...I have appropriated some good ideas for them from the ladies ...I am putting them into the Pedlar doll for Mary at the Drapers of Mount Macedon in July in Gisborne and the new cottage garden box which is on the drawing board right now...
Of course there have to be high achievers in any group and winners too...Michelle from the Stitch Connection had some valuable prizes donated by Leutenneger P/L ,from Cottage Garden Threads and myself as well as many small prizes through the days.What a great group of ladies...all prepared to have a try at something new and so welcoming and happy to make a "southerner" feel at home....stayed with Tanya who has a lovely little dog and a husband who has an affinity for sparrows (not).
This was after my trip to Ballarat for the "Autumn Leaves" seminar fror the Embroiderers Guild of Ballarat...lovely to meet up with Ida Densley and to meet Jo Maxwell from the Elephant Patch in Creswick who has a lovely little shop which sells her unique embroideries, threads etc ...more about that later!!I had a lovely time teaching the techniques for the forget me not box...such a pleasure to spend time with like minded women who stitch...more soon.. Am off to Ballarat to take some classes for Embroiderers guild Seminar this week and from there on to Hay for a weekend event stitching...I have a good map with lots of good coffee stops marked ... provided by Tanya in Hay who has also promised me a bed for the weekend...more when I return and I will have photos!
..just a note ...Suzanne Conroy from The Country Quilt Co. in Ipswich is co ordinating a flood relief event using the little quilt as a prize. We have had two panels completed so far by some very useful stitchers Wendy and Tina in Sale Victoria and the Stitch and Chat group in Traralgon are completing the other two...more news as it develops.
The Australasian Quilt Convention will be in Melbourne this week...you will be able to see some of my work at Catharinas Country Collections, Maggie Robertson Designs, Patchwork TeaHouse, Southern Cross Needlework.

Laurel's apron that she found in an op shop, unpicked the part finished stitchery, and re stitched was most admired...as was Cathy's beautiful pink/cream toned quilt . Laurels beautifully stitched wall panel from the Bushfire stitchery collection is on the left..these ladies are prolific stitchers!
